BERBATOV – ALLEGRI TO REPLACE CONTE AT CHELSEA

Premier League legend Dimitar Berbatov has said that Max Allegri would replace Chelsea coach Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge as he did at Juventus when the Italian exits the team.

Allegri took over Juve after Conte in 2014 and he has gone on to surpass the achievement of his predecessor. Conte won the Serie A with Juventus but failed to make progress in the continental stage. Conte eventually left Juve to manage the Italian national team and Allegri helped Juve surge.

Allegri has helped the team to Serie A title in three year and has taken the team further by reaching two Champions League finals in three years.

“I’m sure he’d like to trump Conte and win the Champions League, that’s the one thing that’s evaded Juve for a long time now,” Berbatov said.

The player who is now a free agent added that Allegri would do the switch when the time is right.

“He succeeded him in Juventus, then he will go to Chelsea probably. English teams are going to want him for sure. But I think he will stay in Juventus for a long time,” the former Manchester United player added. Continue reading →

CAN THE MIRACLE HAPPEN AGAIN?

Serie A defending champions Juventus have shocked Barcelona 3-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals.

The La Liga champs lost the first leg of their clash with French side Paris Saint Germain 4-0 in the last stage but returned in the final leg to get a 6-1 result that earned them the ticket to this stage.

Paulo Dybala grabbed a brace that rattled the visitors before the third was added by Giorgio Chiellini in the second half. Juventus were mostly behind the ball as Barca played more, as usual. However, Dybala’s decisiveness in front of goal was spectacular, helping the home side build confidence.

Barcelona would need another miracle when they host Juve at Camp Nou. After the stunt they pulled the last time, the Italian side would definitely tread carefully – making it tougher for them.

Ahead of the game, both sides last met on the platform in the 2015 final where Barcelona totally outclassed them 3-1. This time the team is much more different, only keeper Gianluigi Buffon and defender Leonardo Bonucciplayed the last game and this time around.

In the opening 20 minutes, Juve tried to get clear attempts at goal. Gonzalo Higuain headed but missed before Dybala hit two shots. He curled home from an angle inside the box for the first before hitting a shot from a central position on the edge of the box of the second. Continue reading →

Owen Coyle Confident of Avoiding the Drop after Brentford Win

Owen Coyle has expressed his confidence that the club will be able to avoid relegation this season.

Even though the former Bolton and Burnley manager was brought in as someone who can help the club get promoted back to the Premier league, lack of investment in the playing squad has seen the new manager unable to make any sort of an impact. Results have been highly inconsistent and Coyle is under a lot of pressure.

Since the parachute payments runs out in the next few years, it is extremely important for Blackburn to at least remain in the Championship and not drop down into the League One. Continue reading →

RONALDO SET TO RETURN TO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL

Portuguese star player Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return to UEFA Champions League football this Wednesday as Real Madrid face off with English outfit, Manchester City. The Real Madrid superstar will be encouraged by City’s loss to Southampton in the English premier League this past weekend.

The 31-year old will need no better inspiration to regain his fitness ahead of the clash. Ronaldo who trained on Sunday, will be well aware that Manuel Pellegrini’s big guns will return for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Manchester City. The forward is also aware that City’s boss, Manuel Pellegrini, could yet call on a few of the players that featured in last week’s first leg.

Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho played the first leg but was hauled off at half time during the weekend encounter. Pellegrini had described the Premier League’s refusal to shift the 4.30pm kick-off to aid City’s Champions League chances as “unbelieveable.”

“Gareth Bale, he’s coming for you!” taunted the gleeful Southampton fans as Dusan Tadic and Shane Long joined Mane in repeatedly racing in behind the City back line. The only standout player for City was 19-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho who scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season. Continue reading →
