The Government of Israel is not happy at all with the repeated failures of the national Football team and wants a complete review why the level of team’s performance is continuously dipping.

Israel does not lack Football playing potential. Many of its players are plying their trade in the top leagues in Europe including the English Premiership as well, still Israel as a team has been quite lack luster at the international level in the last few decades.

BBC Reports The Hatred Of The Two Teams On Derby

A recent post on BBC report was seen describing the recent meeting of Olymapcos and Panathianaikos as flares, petrol bombs, firecrackers and fights day. They termed the beginning of the derby as “Derby of Hatred” as the day started with the fans attempting to torch coaches of their rival teams.

Neil Johnston, the BBC writer says that a game in March between Olymapcos and Panathianaikos, the coach of Panathianaikos, Yiannis Anastasiou crouched down to the touchline when an object that was thrown from the stands hit him. The March 2007 match had a fatal ending because of the unending clash between the two teams.

The article so written by Neil Johnston gives a detailed story of the clash between the two teams and the instances of violence inside and outside the stadiums. He wrote the British goalie of Panathianaikos’s comment after he was transferred for the summer to the club. Luke Steele said that his debut was like a cup tie away for Olympiacos. The match was very hostile and there were many flares. He flinched for the first time when a firecracker landed very close to him but then again one who plays on the team gets used to this as it is more like a religion to the fans and not just football.

Panos Polyzoides, the Greek journalist says that whether it is football, volleyball, basketball or water polo, the hatred between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos is very clear. He also mentioned the beating of a football fan that ended up being fatal in the Third Division game having 200 spectators.

The fans of Piraeus club expect a win as big as the win of Olympiacos over the Italians on Wednesday. After the victory at the Champions League, the fans all over the Karaiskakis stadium put forward their demand to destroy the Greens on field. They even want the revenge for the loss of Panathinaikos on home grounds.

Usmanov Believes Arsenal Is In A Good Spot

One of the Arsenal’s shareholders, Alisher Usmanov, believes that the composition of the first team squad of the club is very good at the moment and there is no reason why the Gunners can’t become the Premier League Champions again.

Arsenal has bought some fantastic players this summer and they are indeed looking very strong ahead of the Premier League. They are confident too having ended their trophy drought of almost a decade last season.

They won the FA Cup in the 2013-14 Season defeating Hull City in the final. It was a memorable win for them as they had gone down by 0-2 in that match and that too in the first half itself.

According to Usmanov, Arsenal would never have suffered the trophy drought if the board had been a little smarter strategy wise.

Talking to the reporters yesterday, the Russian billionaire said, “Because of the building of the new stadium, the club was under debt and thus, the world class players weren’t being bought. Also, a lot of players were being sold and the team was getting weakened with every passing season. That was the main reason why we couldn’t win titles. But, we could have avoided getting into such sort of situation if we had been smarter and had gone for a different option rather than the debt one.”

“However, we have got through that period now and we are financially quite stable at this point of time.”

“This is the start of a fresh era for us. Everything seems to be in order and I am sure we are going to achieve glory in near future.”

Usmanov has a stake of 30% in Arsenal. Only Stan Kroenke, the American businessman, has a higher stake than him in the club.

The relationship between Usmanov and Kroenke is not good at all. They have not been speaking to each other for a long time.

Inter Milan manager Walter Mazzarri has criticised his striker Mauro Icardi after the forward decided to celebrate in an exuberant manner against Sampdoria after scoring the first goal against the club. The encounter was more than just a football match for Inter forward Mauro Icardi and Sampdoria counterpart Maxi Lopez. It has been revealed in the last few weeks that Icardi has been involved in an affair with Lopez’ former wife. The love triangle appears to have spoiled a great relationship and friendship between Lopez and Icardi.

The duo were teammates at Sampdoria before Icardi moved to Inter recently. Icardi tried to shake hands with Lopez before the match, but this offer was rejected by the Sampdoria striker. Icardi then went on to create a big impression by scoring two goals – with one being from the penalty spot. His celebration after scoring the first goal appeared to kindle the emotions of Sampdoria fans, as he put his hands began his fears claiming that he could not hear the opposition. The referee booked him with a yellow card, but he continued his impressive form by scoring the second half the spot.

Meanwhile, the day went from bad to worse for Lopez and Sampdoria, as he missed the penalty that would have given them a crucial goal.

“Up until his goal, he had conducted himself perfectly. All he then had to do was go back to the centre of the field and not make that gesture, even if it didn’t seem to be anything scandalous. He did his job and showed great personality, considering the atmosphere which had been created around him. If he carries on like this, and we manage to get rid of all the superfluous things about him, then he’s going to become a great player,” said Mazzarri after the match.

Chelsea travelled to the home turf of Galatasaray at the Telekom Arena in Istanbul and despite enjoying a fairly impressive season in the Premier League they had to settle with a 1-1 draw as they went against the Turkish team of Roberto Mancini.

It was the 1st leg of the Champions League, with both teams having much lying on this match as positive result would give them a huge advantage for the return match which will be played on March 18.

Jose Mourinho’s men enjoyed a better 1st half as they dominated the opening 45 minutes with more shots on goal and simply just played far more impressively than the 2nd half of the match when Galatasaray took center stage and threatened Chelsea’s goalkeeper Petr Cech.

A close range shot from Fernando Torres gave Chelsea the lead after only 9 minutes had passed and the Premier League club tried to extend the lead through Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle and Willian as they were the players that pushed the team forward but were unable on scoring as the 1st half came to a conclusion.

Both teams re-entered the pitch in order to play the remaining 45 minutes of the match this time around it was Galatasaray that looked like the better team and it didn’t take long for Roberto Mancini’s men to find the equalizer as the 28 years old defender Aurelien Chedjou found the back of the net and turned the score 1-1.

Throughout the remainder of the match it was Galatasaray the team that pressured more but was unlucky on not being able to score another goal. According to the head coach of Galatasaray, Roberto Mancini he stated that his team deserved to win.

‘’In the second half we probably deserved to score another goal. We gained a lot of confidence from the second half, but we had too much respect for Chelsea. Maybe we were too deep in the first half, we played with fear but I’m happy. One-one is a good result, we have another game.” Mancini stated.

The manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Tim Sherwood, has said that if his team manages to get better of Arsenal in the upcoming FA Cup game, it would be a huge achievement for him as a manager.

Sherwood has recently taken charge at White Hart Lane after the sacking of Andre Villas Boas and under him, his team began the New Year in a brilliant fashion as in their opening match of the year against the defending champions Manchester United, they secured a 2-1 win.

Sherwood is hoping that his team puts up another top performance against the league table toppers Arsenal on Saturday. However, that would not be easy for the Spurs at all as they will be playing at Emirates which has almost been a fortress for the Gunners this season.

Talking to the reporters ahead of that FA Cup game, Sherwood said, “If we beat Arsenal on their home ground tomorrow, it would be amazing, perhaps the biggest achievement of my management career which has just started.”

“FA Cup is one of the most prestigious tournaments in England. I never had the opportunity to win it as a player. I featured in the semis a few times, but, never played the final. So, I would feel great if I guide Tottenham to the title round.”

“Off course, it would have been nice to take on a comparatively weaker league side, but, we can’t do anything about it. We are up against Arsenal and we need to give it our best shot.”

Tottenham has had an average season so far. They had actually begun very well, but, their performances suddenly declined drastically in the last few weeks of the last year and at this point of time, they are out of top 5 in the league table.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has stated that the carrier of Luiz Suarez could have been brought to an end by the tackle of Everton’s Kevin Mirallas. The pair recently came up against each other in the 3-3 draw at Goodison Park. This was one of the most entertaining matches of the weekend, but it was overshadowed by the tackle of Mirallas. He went on with a high boot on Suarez and it earned him a yellow card. Rodgers, though, has said after the match that this tackle should have resulted in a red card since it could have easily ended his career.

He has said that going in with the studs behind the knees often results in a very serious injury. He felt that Suarez was lucky to escape this injury. Liverpool opened the scoring through Coutinho, but they were unable to hold on to the lead for much longer after Mirallas equalised for Everton. Suarez, though, put Liverpool back in front with a stunning freekick. Everton once again came back this time with Chelsea’s on loan striker Romelu Lukaku.

He scored two goals in the space of 10 minutes to put Everton in front. However, substitute Daniel Sturridge scored with just a minute remaining on the clock to get a point for the title challengers.

“I thought Mirallas should have been sent off. It would’ve been interesting if Luis made the challenge. I have seen Kevin for a few years and he looks a real honest player but if you look at it in every way, real time and slow motion, it is a bad challenge. He caught him on the back of his knee and that can end your career. It wouldn’t matter if it was on Luis or someone else it was a naughty challenge,” said Rodgers.

Inter Milan have been one of the best teams in the start of the season in the Italian Serie A. They proved that once again with a thumping 7-0 scoreline against newly promoted Sassuolo during the weekend. It was a match that confirmed Inter Milan’s resurgence to the top of the table after a few years of struggle. Mazzarri was appointed as a replacement for Andrea Stramaccioni only in the summer. Even though the team had a poor pre-season, they have been looking brilliant since the start of the campaign. As a result of this stunning victory, they have gone to the third place in the table.

They are only behind Napoli and Roma, who have made a perfect starts to the season. After this enormous victory, Mazzarri said that his players will not get complacent as a result of this one match. He has also promised that Inter Milan will continue to work hard in the hope of improving even further. Mazzarri had a number of positives from the encounter with Argentine striker Diego Milito once again scoring being one of them. The striker has spent the last few months on the sidelines, but he returned to first team action in the most emphatic manner with two goals against Sassuolo.

“We started from scratch this summer and are doing very well. Aside from the result, what counts is the approach to the game. The team had the right attitude and it is reflected in our position in the table. Our spirit means we will never rest on our laurels and always want to improve. All the players are growing and with Milito fit we can think about adopting a 3-4-3 system,” said Mazzarri after the match. Since the club does not have any other distractions like European football, they can concentrate on the league.

Atletico Madrid recently managed to bring in Barcelona striker David Villa for just around £ 4.5 million after the striker was placed on the transfer list by the Catalan Giants. Barcelona signed Neymar for around £ 50 million, which immediately prompted speculation that Villa will be sold. The former Valencia star has been starved of first-team action ever since his £ 35 million move from Valencia a few years ago. Atletico Madrid were in the market for a new striker after the sale of Radamel Falcao to Monaco for £ 50 million.

Despite being cash rich at the moment, the club decided to go down the value route by bringing Villa. The 31-year-old cost the club just under £ 5 million, which has been hailed as the bargain of the century by the club president Enrique Cerezo. Villa is the record goalscorer for the Spanish national team and he has won every major trophy in the last decade. He is also incredibly experienced and is one of the best finishers in the game. After an extraordinary season last time around, there is a lot of pressure on Madrid to repeat the same.

Cerezo has said that the arrival of Villa will certainly help them match the achievements of last season.

“Many Spanish and foreign teams would have sacrificed a lot to have Villa in their squads and we have paid a very low price for him, so we’re very pleased about that. The most important factor in the deal was that we have wanted to sign Villa for a long time and that’s why we’re so happy. We wanted to sign him when he went to Valencia from Zaragoza, and now he belongs to us. Villa still has many seasons left in football. He is a natural goalscorer,” said Cerezo.
