The Dutch media is rife with the news that football giants, Ajax Amsterdam are in serious mapping for the Rapid Wien centre-back Maximilian Wober as their primary option to replace the departed Colombian, Davinson Sanchez.
Meanwhile, a new bid up to €10 million is set to be submitted by Marc Overmars as the club are eager to quickly fill the space left by Sanchez. Ajax defense felt the absence of Sanchez during their 2-1 loss to Heracles Almelo in the Netherlands Eredivisie opening match. The hosts were able to penetrate frequently into the defense which gave them fourteen opportunities to shoot as two of their eight shots on target were able to go past the goalkeeper into the back of the net.
The Austrian young man is a very important part of Rapid Wien’s squad as he has featured in all their Austria Bundesliga matches playing all the available minutes with a record of one goal in five matches. The former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van Dar Sar, who became Ajax director, last year alleged that if Ajax can secure Wober’s move to the club, his shot-blocking ability will guarantee their goalkeeper less goals to concede which will earn them more points to triumph in the Netherlands league beyond previous season.
The center-back was called up for Rapid Wien first team in 2015 while he made his senior team debut in the Round of 32 of 2015–16 UEL against Valencia CF at Ernst-Happel-Stadion on 25th of February 2016 under the coach Zoran Barisic.
