Ivan Perisic admits that he was approached by the Red Devils the previous summer and he had considered the offer quite seriously. According to Perisic, he had almost made up his mind that he was going to Old Trafford because it was not a small thing, to be approached by a club like that. Not every Footballer in the world has such kind of an opportunity in his career but then the new coach joined in at Inter, which was Luciano Spalletti, and he let Perisic kno how valuable he was for him. Spalletti told Perisic that he was in his future plans and he was not wiling for him to go anywhere else at that stage.
According to Perisic, for a new coach to value him like that and to speak such words, it was really overwhelming and it was something which prompted him to stretch his stint at Inter and turn down the United offer for the time being and he has no regrets of doing that. However Perisic is still interested in representing United at some point in his career because that’s the goal he had when he had started playing the game as a youngster, to play in several different parts of the world. So now that he has competed in Italy and showcased his skills, he would like to do that in other countries as well, including UK,
“In Football, you never say never, from the beginning of my career, I’ve had the ambition to play in as many big leagues as possible and I still have that desire to test myself in other leagues.” Perisic was quoted saying by Four Four Two magazine.
This is Perisic’s fourth season at Inter. He has so far played 119 Serie A games and has netted 31 times.
